The God-given MISSION of the church never changes.
That ongoing mission is found in the words of Jesus to his closest friends and followers in the closing verses of Matthew’s gospel: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” - Matthew 28:19-20
Our church communicates this mission with the simple phrase: “Making everyday disciples.” Making disciples who live out their faith every day, everywhere they are, is at the center of everything our church does together as a family of faith.
In addition to this unchanging mission, our church has developed a 5-year VISION for the church that helps us see the specific and strategic ways we hope to partner in God’s mission. In other words, if we are faithful to God’s mission, what will our church look like in 2030?
Recent studies show that 1 in 3 Americans feel lonely at least once a week. Researchers have also found that 1 in 5 people in our world feel lonely most of the day, every day. Feelings of loneliness and isolation are at the heart of much of the pain people experience throughout their lives. Our church feels called to join God in doing something about this social epidemic of people feeling disconnected and alone.
We are convinced that the gospel of Jesus is always good news that is stronger than the bad news we face. If disconnection and loneliness are the sources of so many of our problems, Jesus offers us genuine connection and authentic belonging.
We’ve captured this truth in the vision statement: “Connection is why we’re here.” Relational connection is our “why.” Relational connection is THE reason for who we are and what we plan to do for the next 5 years.
The Apostle Paul describes our church’s obsessive focus on relational connection when he writes, “Speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him, the whole body, connected and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” - Ephesians 4:15-16
To help us get our hearts and minds wrapped around our vision, we are committed to pursuing 4 key connection points: GLOBAL MISSIONS, LOCAL OUTREACH, HEALTHY FAMILIES, and AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY. We want our church to work in these 4 areas of life to help bring people back together. We want to help heal relationships in our world, in our neighborhoods, in our homes, and in our individual lives.
As we consider the specific and strategic ways we want to accomplish our 2030 Vision with God’s help, we have developed the following 16 Vision Initiatives, which provide our church family with a ministry roadmap for the next 5 years.
